The Radiation Monster no longer stands alone as the sole boss in Super Street Skate, the aptly named Kaiju (Monster) Monster stomps into the mix! It's the classic skyscraper sized raging lizard with plates of armour to protect its incredibly thick hide. I'm quite proud of the end result as show above, rendered within Blender its just a small glimpse at how it could look in engine.

The texture work was another successful experiment with filters inside photoshop, adding just that little more detail to what would otherwise be solid colours. For something that is going to be incredibly large compared to the player, the lines on the texture needing to be thin keeping to the cel-shaded style overall.

From the concept stage the Kaiju (Monster) Monster has changed a fair bit, the idea that more spikes is far better than less spikes. It comes across as far more deadly and menacing, something that actually is capable of knocking down whole buildings with ease. (Boss fight spoilers!) Overall I kept quite true to my original design, the horn atop his head and large carapace arm guards are two of my personal favourite sections. The Kaiji (Monster) Monster is dented and covered in scars from years of brawling other monsters or causing city wide mayhem.

 The Final Model (Unrendered)

The Final Model (Unrendered)

The first model I created was still on the low poly end, plus given that this is one of the humongous bosses we could afford more faces and some smoothing. The final poly count is around 7500, which is still pretty low for industry level models but perfect for our sort of smaller and stylised game. I should get back to work! I've barely scratched the surface on all the enemies/bosses that need to be done, so expect more posts from me!

Let me know what you guys think of this boss! Feedback is welcome as always.

Can you guess what sort of attacks it might have?
